Pasatiempo
Hotel Pasatiempo is located at the center of Tamarindo, one of the most accessible beaches along the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. There is a paved highway from San Jose for those who wish to rent a car and enjoy the countryside during the 4 to 5-hour drive to Tamarindo.
Walk through the arched entry and enter a lush tropical garden with 18 rooms scattered among the palms and bougainvillea, and surrounding the hotel's private pool. The sparkling, private pool is nestled at the center of the hotel's rambling, tropical gardens. Abundant lounge chairs surrounding the pool make it easy to pass time relaxing in or out of the pool. Every room opens to a covered patio with a hammock or hammock chair. You can read, take a siesta, or just be lazy and enjoy the lush landscape right at your doorstep.
All rooms are decorated in a colorful, tropical motif, have air conditioning, as well as ceiling fans, security safes and CD/radios. Hotel Pasatiempo has recently expanded its oasis with two 1-bedroom suites designed for spaciousness and tranquility. In addition to all the other amenities of the bungalows, they offer a built-in queen bed in a separate bedroom, and two single beds, which convert to sofas, in the front room. The suites are perfect for a family.
Just a few steps away, under a beautiful teak and palm-thatched rancho, is Pasatiempo's popular bar and restaurant. You'll find complimentary coffee and local cakes to start your day. The first-class restaurant offers a diverse, international menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner at moderate prices. Ask the excellent, creative chef Alejandro what the special is for the evening. After a long, hard day in paradise, Pasatiempo Bar is the perfect place to relax and mingle with the colorful mix of locals and other world travelers. There are six satellite TVs for worldwide sports and news. Most nights a wide variety of DVD concerts are shown. Tuesday nights are Open Mike night, when local and traveling artists join the live house band.
