COSTA RICA SURF 'n' TURF
Nature and Adventure in Arenal, Turrialba and on the Pacific coast in 11 Days
Day 1 - Arrive to San José
Today has been designated as your travel day. At the airport you will be met by a hotel representative who will provide a transfer service to your hotel.

Day 2 - Drive from San José to Arenal Area stopping for an elevated adventure
This morning a representative of the car rental company will deliver your car at your hotel and give you a vehicle briefing. Your first destination is the Poás Volcano, where you will stop to explore this active giant. After you continue your drive to the Arenal region, dominated by the awesome Arenal Volcano. You’ll catch a glimpse of this spectacular volcano as drive toward the northern plains. Upon your arrival, you’ll experience a Costa Rican specialty: the canopy tour. The canopy consists of 15 cables and 18 platforms and the famous Tarzan Swing.

Day 3 - Caving and Volcano Worship and Hot Springs
Start your day driving to the end of little dirt road in the middle of nowhere and being handed a pair of rubber boots a helmet and flashlight. Venture deep into confines of the earth to encounter a narrow passages, a flowing creek with eyeless fish, seashells, fossils and bizarre fruit shaped stalactites.
Today’s action does not end with the caves, this afternoon you’ll hike through a lush rainforest with a naturalist guide close to the base of the Arenal Volcano where we wait for sunset at the observation point. As it starts to get dark, (on clear nights) you can see the amazing lava flow of the world’s most-active volcano. Later, take a relaxing dip in natural hot springs and enjoy the area's specialty tropical drinks at the swim-up bar.

Day 4 - Biking in the Arenal Area
Enjoy an intermediate level ride along the southern shores of Lake Arenal. Today you’ll ride through rainforests, agricultural areas and little towns, crossing a few streams and passing by small family farms and enjoying breathtaking views of protected rainforests, Lake Arenal and the majestic Arenal Volcano. You will be riding on varied terrain including abandoned dirt roads, gravel, sand and even some muddy and rocky sections. This adventure will end by mid afternoon, after you’ll be free to relax, explore or drive and /or walk around the town of Fortuna were you’ll find souvenirs, restaurants, ice cream parlors and an early cerveza and more. (Distance: 18.6 to 25 miles/30 to 40 km)

Day 5 - Canyoning and Driving to the Turrialba Area
Start early this morning meeting your canyoning guides and venturing into a pristine rainforest canyon filled with pools and waterfalls. We save the best for last…the grand finale is a huge, 210-ft (70 meter), 3-stage waterfall! Experienced guides will put you into your safety harness and assist you down a series of 8 amazing waterfalls that gradually get bigger. After this experience you‘ll drive over to the Turrialba area.

Day 6 - Rafting one of top white water Rivers in world, the Pacuare
So you wanted to go rafting, well how about rafting on the Pacuare River, ranked as one of the top five rivers in the world to white water raft. What earns the Pacuare River this acclaim is its eighteen miles of class III and class IV rapids and some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Costa Rica.
Turquoise pools that invite you for a swim, narrow gorges that give scale to nature’s power through eons of time, breathtaking waterfalls that will compel you by fascination and simply thrilling white water navigation which will make your day!

Day 7 - Head South to Dominical
Wake up to the sound of singing birds and observe the mist rising from the forest covered mountains. After a delicious breakfast and maybe exploring the nearby Turrialba Volcano National Park, you’ll check out and drive away to your next destination: Dominical. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way and your freedom to stop anywhere you like for photos, snacks or spontaneous adventures.

Day 8 - Explore the Renown Corcovado National Park
Start your day departing to Sierpe, then take a comfortable 90 minute boat ride through one of the largest mangrove wetlands in Central America. The mangroves are inhabited by all 4 species of monkeys, crocodiles, and variety of birds. Once at the mouth of the Sierpe River you'll boat past two of the most scenic areas in the country, Drake Bay and the Marenco Biological Reserve. With luck you will spot hope humpback, pilot and killer whales along the way. On arrival a bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a 3 hour walking tour of a pristine primary forest. The hike ends at the ranger’s station with a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by rich natural atmosphere. The ecological variety and abundance is truly amazing. National Geographic once called it "the most biologically intense place on Earth". Any person visiting this incredible area can expect to see an abundance of both marine and rainforest wildlife at its best.

Day 9 - Relax at the beach
Today is free for you to relax at the beach or take advantage of your vehicle to explore. Or perhaps a surfing lesson with Henry, our local surfing expert.

Day 10 - Drive back to San Jose and hike on suspension bridges in rain forest conservation project
Today on your drive back to San Jose you will visit a rainforest conservation project which houses trails and a canopy bridge system. This reserve is home to Morpho butterflies, varieties of birds, the colorful and rare poison dart frogs and thousands of unique plant species. At the end of the hike, a refreshing waterfall pool invites you for a dip.
With your visit you are contributing to maintain the project which supports the local teachers and schools in this area, by providing school supplies, and facilitating the environmental consciousness.

Day 11- All good things must come to an end
All good things must come to an end. For the past 10 days you have been visiting immersed Costa Rica’s culture and beautiful natural playgrounds. Today you will be departing with a new understanding of the tropics. Drive to the international airport; drop off your Grand Vitara (or a representative of the car rental company at your hotel and a hotel representative will provide a transfer service to the airport) and check in for your depart flight. This Pura Vida time ends, at least for now…
