Monteverde-Arenal-Pacific in 10 Days

Day 1 - Arrive to San José
Today has been designated as your travel day. At the airport you will be met by a hotel representative who will provide a transfer service to your hotel.

Day 2 - Head to the Clouds
This morning we have arranged for your transportation to Monteverde, Costa Rica’s Cloud Forest Region. Cloud forests are a particular type of mid elevation tropical rainforest that occur at specific tropical mountain areas and constitute unique ecosystems. Take advantage of early arrival to visit Monteverde to visit the renowned Cloud Forest Reserve on your own and explore these beautiful forests. In the afternoon relax at the hotel and enjoy the serenity of the cloud forest or explore the tiny and colorful town of Santa Elena.

Day 3 - Take a walk (and a ride) in the Clouds
Start your day with an full combo of adventure with the Sky tram, Sky Trek and Sky Walk. Upon arriving to the location, the adventure starts in the reception where you board the slow paced gondolas and ride smoothly up to a wide observation deck at the highest point.  Sky Tram is a guided tour and you can have the opportunity of intermediate the ride with short stops to observe the cloud forest biodiversity, the Arenal, Tenorio, Miravalles and Orosi volcanoes, the Nicoya gulf, and the Guanacaste plain if the weather allows. Instead of riding back down the same way you came up on the Sky Tram, zip your way to the bottom along the fast moving canopy tour zip lines, the best option for those seeking a rush of adrenaline. Additionally you will be able to enjoy a  visit the Sky Walk lets you view the cloud forest from a different perspective on suspension bridges. Enjoy this guided tour, where you will learn all about the flora and fauna of the area walking through and over the treetops. .

Day 4 -  Volcano worship
This morning we have arranged for your transportation by first by land and then by boat, crossing the majestic Lake Arenal to reach the town of La Fortuna, in the vicinity of the Arenal Volcano. The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active and beautiful volcanoes in the world, weather permitting this unique crossing will allow simply the observation of the awesome perfectly shaped and active Arenal Volcano. Upon after being dropped off at your hotel, relax for bit but not too long…
There is no complete trip to Arenal without getting close to the active far west side of Arenal Volcano. This afternoon we have arranged for a guided hike were your guide will explain everything about the volcano formation, eruption and contributions to La Fortuna development. The hike will submerge you into a primary Tropical Rain forest, where you will spend about 1 ½ hour exploring the Silencio Trail, which is located in a private primary forest, facing the majestic Arenal Volcano. At dark, after visiting the trail, continue to the observation point, which offers the closest and most direct lava flow vista. Relax; enjoy a drink and listen to the incredible sounds of the volcano. If the cloud cover is high enough, expect to see a dazzling. Listen to a variety of frogs, toucans, and insects and watch thousands of fireflies. After the volcano worship continue on with a refreshing three-hour thermal hot springs at the world known Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa, which includes a delicious buffet dinner.

Day 5 - Get to know the older brother…
Harnesses, helmets, ropes, climbing gear and a desire for adventure is what you need to submerge yourself into a lush and pristine tropical rain forest canyon. These unique tropical environments house numerous drops, unique pools, beautifully sculpted walls, and spectacular waterfalls; all in the breathtaking setting of a Costa Rican Tropical Rain forest. Imagine yourself combining hiking through the jungle and exploring a quite essential tropical canyon, hiking on rocks, swimming or scrambling through pools, sliding on natural waterslides, taking technical jumps into natural bowls filled with crystal clear water, and descending by rappelling vertical rock walls. This the new sport of canyoning, and what better place to enjoy it than a tropical forest canyon filled with refreshing water streams.

Day 6 -  Southbound
This morning we have arranged for your transportation to the local airstrip for your flight to Quepos (Manuel Antonio) with a stop over in San Jose. ($7 per person airport fee not included). Note: domestic flights will only allow 1 piece of luggage with maximum weight of 27 lbs./12 kgs. We offer ground transfer for luggage at a reasonable price in case your luggage exceeds the limits.

At Quepos you will be met by company representative who will privately transport you to Dominical. Dominical is located on the South Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica is one of the country's most beautiful uncut gems, Dominical. From its turquoise green water to its fiery red and gold sunsets, the natural beauty of the area is second to none. The town sits on the Pacific ocean bordered to the north by the Rio Baru, on the east by three thousand foot high mountains and to the south by dark, coffee brown, beaches and coves. One of the most striking features of Dominical can be found while swimming in the water, the town simply disappears. All you see are the tall beach palms and mangroves surrounded by verdant green hills reaching up into the mountains.

Day 7 -  The Crown Jewel
Protecting approximately 54,539 hectares of humid rainforest and 24,000 hectares of pristine ocean, Corcovado National Park has become an international attraction since it was founded in 1975. It is the #3 ranked national park in the world, mainly because 2% of the entire world’s biodiversity can be found within the park.
Corcovado Park is home to almost 400 species of birds, 140 species of mammals and 116 species of amphibians and reptiles and 6000 species of insects. 6 natural eco-systems have been identified in the park and it protects endangered species such as the jaguar, puma, crocodile, tapir, poison dart and golden frogs and the harpy eagle. The rainforest is also home to numerous plants and insects that are extremely valuable for scientific and medical discovery. It is the premier place in Costa Rica to see the diverse wildlife that exists in the country. Depart early in the morning in a comfortable van from Dominical, taking the Costanera Highway along the Pacific Ocean for about 90 minutes to Sierpe. You'll  will stop there to have breakfast (not included). Then take a comfortable 90 minute boat ride through the largest area of mangrove swamps in Central America to Caño Island. The mangroves are inhabited by crocodiles, snakes, four species of monkeys, and a great variety of birds. Once through the Sierpe River mouth you'll boat past two of the most scenic areas in the country, Drake Bay and the Marenco Biological Reserve. With luck you will  see the  Humpback, Pilot and Killer Whales along the way.

Upon arriving to the park a bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a 3 hour walking tour of a pristine primary forest. The hike ends at the rangers station where you will be provide a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by rich natural atmosphere.

Day 8 - Surf’s up Ace!
Novice surfing instructing will begin at the beach, on the sand, were your instructor will teach you the basics of surfing, including the adequate techniques for entering the ocean, catching waves and more. Your session starts on the sand which will conclude by practicing how to get up on the board and hold the correct position, then you will move to the water to catch waves with the help of your instructors. 99% of novices will be standing up to ride waves by the end of their first lesson! You instructors will provide surfboards, bottled water and fresh fruit.
In the afternoon, take an invigorating hike up the mountain, so see the pristine Nauyaca waterfalls.  These majestic rain forest waterfalls are one of the main attractions of the southern region, not only for their natural scenic beauty, but for the offers the  swimming, climbing, jumping  opportunities they offer. (Note: the order of these activities may be inversed due to the tide).

Day 9 - The Capital
On this day you will be transported privately back to San Jose. Where you will stay at your hotel in San Jose.

Day 10 - Departure
