Bird Spotting - it still exists, a haven for birds
Costa Rica is world famous for its birding since it may be the only country in the world to have so many bird species and habitats accessible within such a small area. More than 830 species of birds can be found here! With so many birds, it is no wonder that Costa Rica is such a popular place to see them. Not only are the numbers large, but also many are beautiful and exotic so that even non-birders take great pleasure in spotting them!
Habitats include two quite different sea coasts, highland and lowland forests, subalpine grasslands, marshes, rivers, lagoons, mangroves as well as an array of altered habitats like pastures, plantations, rice paddies, coffee plantations and more.
Costa Rica is a truly great place to visit for birders and naturalists who enjoy the outdoors and viewing wildlife! The flora is also great with thousands of different types of plant life including beautiful orchids and bromeliads, and fantastic jungles full of hundreds of different trees.
