DAY 1 | WELCOME TO TROPICAL COSTA RICA

Be ready for a nature & wildlife overload. This Corcovado National Park Hiking trip will take you to the ‘most biologically intense place on earth’ (proclaimed by National Geographic).

On arrival you will be met by a MrTico representative who will drive you to a beautiful little hotel just 15 minutes from the airport. Enjoy a cool drink at the pool or simply enjoy the lush gardens and the bird sounds.

DAY 2 | FLY DOWN THE COAST TO THE OSA PENINSULA!

Wake up and smell the Costa Rican coffee; yes it’s true, you are in Costa Rica! After breakfast you will be taken to the domestic airport, hop in the twin prop plane and enjoy a spectacular one-hour flight along the Pacific coastline to the Osa Peninsula.

On landing you will drive to the most remote place in Costa Rica via, what is considered to be, the most interesting road of the country. Here, you will meet your guide who will welcome you to a multi acre jungle, organic farm, botanical garden and lodge, all located right across the deserted white beach which stretches out for miles.

You will be sleeping ‘Glamping’ style– a new kind of travel, defined as glamorous camping; spacious sturdy tents on elevated platforms, with real mattresses.

Boogie board the waves, study the Corcovado flora & fauna charts and books in the Casa Grande offering amazing views on the Pacific ocean and the jungle. This is also the place where all meals are served made from fresh & organic ingredients. Trip briefing over or after dinner.

Lodging | Finca Exotica Eco Lodge
Meals | Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

DAY 3 |  HIKING CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK: DAY 1

Gear up for your 3-day hike through ‘the most biologically intense place on Earth’. You will be hiking the beach, through the jungle, crossing rivers, climbing hills, and facing the sun’s heat and very local showers. If you find a welcoming bay, jump in for a refreshing moment (beware of the rip currents). Naturally the best part of Corcovado is its overwhelming beauty of flora & fauna. All sorts of species will be crossing your path.

Your naturalist guide will point out all sorts of wildlife, reptiles, insects, flowers, plants, and trees, and he will tell you amazing facts about each and every one of them. Basically you are hiking Corcovado with a living nature encyclopedia!

You will be arriving to the renovated (2016) Sirena Ranger Station before dinner, for which you have been longing for. This place is unique in the sense that you’ll find yourselves among merely nature lovers. No party people, no trouble makers, no mass tourism.

DAY 4 | HIKING CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK: DAY 2

What an amazing feel to wake up to the sounds of the jungle, the real jungle! After breakfast your guide will take you hiking on several different trails that are looping Sirena Ranger Station, which is considered the heart of Corcovado National Park.

The trails are named Claro, Guanacaste, Espaveles, Ollas/Corcovado, Sirena, and Naranjo and take anywhere from 2-4 hours hiking. The extraordinary diversity and concentration of wildlife in the Corcovado Basin, which contains Sirena Ranger Station, means that spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities are liable to present themselves at virtually any time at nearly any part of any trail.

None of the animals are hunted, so they do not have much fear of human beings. As a result, tapirs often feed at night on the landing strip in front of the Station, and herds of peccaries numbering more than a hundred individuals frequently roam with a few hundred meters of the ranger station itself. Surely you’ll hear the Howler Monkeys in the early morning and evening, and see Spider Monkeys, and Capuchin Monkeys playfully chasing each other through the trees next to the porch where most people will be reading, napping, or simply relaxing in the afternoon and evening.

A well-deserved dinner will be waiting for you at 5:30 Pm. From experience we know that guests are eager to hit the sack before lights are turned off. You’ll sleep like a log!

DAY 5 | HIKING CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK: DAY 3

Start your hike to Carate early after breakfast. Make sure to fill your water bottles at the station before departure.

After crossing rivers, beating the high tide at a specific rocky beach, swimming some sheltered creeks, and spotting all sorts of mammals, reptiles, and insects, you’ll reach a welcoming river mouth for the most refreshing moment of the trip. Dip in, swim, relax, and enjoy the tranquility of this magnificent place on Earth. You will most likely be surrounded by Macaws and Monkeys.

From here it’s another 30 minutes to the park’s exit, where you’ll continue to your eco lodge, where you’ll be welcomed with dinner and a comfortable bed, Glamping style!
